Monday 19th May, I was again back at the Mike Day Fishery…
But it ended as a VERY short trip … and indeed didn’t actually get to fish at all!
All actually went well until it came to tackle up but problems ensued…
As Liz wasn’t coming out I decided to set out early (0600) and sailed down the deserted roads to the fishery arriving around 0630 … but still AFTER the usual angler who has been beating me the past few visits ALTHOUGH he was still unloading his motor rather than already fishing as he had been :)
I had decided to fish an ‘old’ favourite peg (Peg 11) which faced the near end of the pool’s small island…

So, as usual, first things first … bait up the swim ….
A batch of crumb groundbait with dead maggot and the usual seed particles was mixed up and 6 cricket ball sized balls fed into the area of interest …
AND THEN … time to tackle up …. and ‘where’s my landing net???’ … quickly followed up by ‘where’s my unhooking mat/cradle???’ The answer turning out to be … in the garage back at home! I’d hung both items out to dry and get some UV light on them to destroy any viruses picked up after the previous outing and having done that I put them both in the garage NOT in the front room along with the rest of my kit … and so when loading the car they were missed! DOH and TRIPLE DOH!!
Anyway, there was only one thing to do … abort the mission and return home :(
Hence, I now need to complete this session as Part B…
However, due to various factors it seems that it may be Tuesday 17th June before I get out again … and may be another water that is visited as (a) the river season opens on June 16, (b) I’ve taken out a season ticket for Telford AA waters and several of their waters seem interesting and tomorrow Liz and I are going over to Kingsbury Water Park in Sutton Coldfield (nr Belfry golf course) to get myself an annual fishing permit for their waters – and as Liz is leaving for Cyprus on the 16th until 23rd June I’ll have that week all free to myself! :) so a lot of options available to me over that week…
PLANS
As said above a lot of permutations to be considered in the meantime … certainly try to get one river session in be it on the Warks Stour, Worcs Avon, Tame or Severn (possibly ‘Lower’…)…
