Session 20 – Carpin’ On…Again…

Monday, 11th September, following the success of my last session I thought ‘I’ll have some more of that!’ so I headed out again at 0545 to the ‘carp’ pool … and to the same peg as on Friday 8th …

Slight change in set up though as instead of the ‘rods on the pod’ I decided to use just one on a pair of rod rests.

Identical tackle as previously – 1.75lb TC rod, 8lb line, size 6 hook, frame feeder loaded with crumb, particles and maggot…

Slightly different was the weather of the day – more overcast, cooler and showers of rain and again I fished until around 1300 mainly due to dark clouds building on the horizon made it look like a bit of heavier rain may have been due – and, later at home, it did pour heavily…

And the showers taught me a lesson – not to use ink when recording my catches and other notes in my book! My ‘log’ of the day got transformed into a page sized blotch which became illegible … and although I can recall some basic details from memory most are lost …

But what I recall ….

All common carp – smallest 4lb 1oz, largest 5lb 0oz – apart from one leather carp at 6lb 6oz

Tried various baits – all apart from mussel and calamari received attention – including bread, meat, prawn …and a white fruit pastille! Strange about the calamari as when I’ve used previously at this water its proved to be the best.

So, pics, sorry but as I said details became murky and lost..

  1. Is each photo a different carp? Crikey that is serious carping!

    1. I think one fish is possibly shown twice in the pics.
