April 5th, a beautiful day with blue skies and white fluffy clouds.
Air temp on arrival at 8am of 6C but rose throughout the day with a nominal temp of 15C at 4pm when I packed up… but did reach 21-22C at times from mid-day.
Water temp at 5.1C on arrival, risen to 6.2C by departure.
Fished the 2 leger rods – the size 6 hooked on in deeper water with larger baits (bread, jelly bread, prawn, etc) which were changed hourly and the size 12 hooked in the margins with maggot for the first half of the day, then with small prawn.
Had small nudges/lifts on both rods and on all baits throughout the day but nothing of consequence and so ended the day with a cheque book and pen – blankety blank.
Was a glorious day to be out though and rising water temps are making a visit to the club’s tench pool next week a rising possibility :)
Next trip out though likely to be a return to the Staffs/Worcs canal on Tuesday of next week in search of carp, chub, perch and bream.
