Yep, I’m still here! Albeit fishing took a hit over 2023 – usually 60+ sessions per year but 2023 was less than 30!
At start of the year mainly due to medical appointments – mainly reviews at the doctor’s for my diabetes, but I did have an 11 day stay in hospital from June 16 to June 17 after I went to A&E with my tummy feeling bloated/tight and it was discovered that nothing was amiss in that area BUT it was discovered that I’d picked up Hepatitis E somewhere along the way – usually caused by infected pork products and I suspect it was from an opened can of hotdog sausages in my bait fridge that had gone mushy and horrible despite having been stored in fresh brine. I was told Hep E is not a major concern in itself, body usually clears it naturally within a week or so … BUT … when it is resident it can play havoc on the liver with effects from no or little damage up to severe cirrhosis causing death! Hence the 11 days of observation followed by two week apart outpatient visits for blood sampling and another later visit for a liver sonic scan. Also had a steroid injection into my left thumb in August for which I have an appointment for review of today…
And then when those appointments slowed down the weather intervened….
So, at mo, I’m looking out of the window at another wet and windy day and waiting for a big change … hopefully sooner than later… and I’ve already got my 2024 BAA card … club subs due at end of February.
So, in the meantime, I’m wishing all the very best for the New Year and hoping you all had great Xmas’s and received loads of new tackle to be tried out!!
Tight lines, blue waters, sent sticks and singing strings to all!!
Steve
