Wednesday 22nd November Liz and myself set off at 0730 to the Mike Day Fishery in the hope of a few bream or tench or perch,…
Bad timing really as the usual 30-40 minute journey took nearer 90 minutes due to road workings and works traffic…
So it was around 0915 that I made my first cast with the float rod using my usual lift method set up utilising bread and maggots as bait … and Liz opted for a feeder rig with a maggot bait.
The weather was quite mild with little breeze so hopes were high especially as two carp leapt over by the far bank but by the time we packed in at 1400 Liz had had 2 knocks and myself just one – none of which we connected with and thus went home with blanks in hand…
PLANS
Hoping to get out on Monday but the venue is yet to be decided, the options being a visit to a club pool in search of pike on baits OR a visit to the stretch of club administered canal with a view to fish lures/spinners and wobbled sprats for the pike, perch and chub that inhabit and also take a deadbait rod to drop a bait in whilst I rest my legs and partake of a mug of coffee along the way.
